NBN Installations Melbourne

NBN Cable Installations

Before you order an NBN service you must make sure your home or business is NBN ready.

All infrastructure on your premises should be ready for your provider before you can connect a broadband service.

This may include,

  1. Digging and trenching
  2. Conduit work
  3. Internal cabling
  4. external cabling

To ensure an easy transition to the NBN, you must get the installation done right the first time.

With over 35 years of experience in the industry, Phoneworks technicians are highly trained when installing infrastructure for the NBN and are genuine telecommunications technicians.

What NBN technology can you use?

Since there are many different NBN technologies to install, using telecommunication specialists is your best bet when scoping your premises for a new installation.

In most areas only one type of NBN technology is assigned to your specific suburb. You can check your address eligibility on the NBN co website.

Note: The most commonly used NBN technology in Melbourne is Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC).

Each of the technologies is unique in its own way and using different cables and equipment.

Using the best brands and the right equipment can be the difference between a good or bad experience on the NBN.

Once the work has been completed you will receive a lifetime warranty on our workmanship for your NBN installation.

NBN Technologies Include

  • Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) This is the technology which was originally meant to be used, in our opinion the best. FTTP means a secure fibre connection to your premises. no compromise in speed or continuity.
  • Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) The best of the bad bunch, FTTC means fibre will be installed from the exchange to the NBN pit. From there you can connect using a phone line.
  • Fibre to the Node (FTTN) Most unpopular network FTTN is similar to FTTC. Fibre will be installed from the exchange to a Node, usually a few streets over therefore makes it a slower inferior network to the others.
  • Hybrid Fibre Cable (HFC) HFC utilizes the old Foxtel / Bigpond network and is the most common of all the technologies. Although amazing speeds can be achieved, dropouts and fluctuation in speeds are very common when not installed properly.
  • Sky Muster (Satellite) Satellite is a great technology when connecting to the hard-to-reach towns of Australia. Most commonly used in Country Victoria. Sky muster can be restricted to weather conditions.
